Two baby orangutans play at the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOS). The species, which is already endangered, is being pushed to the brink of extinction by the expansion of palm oil and pulp and paper plantations. When it comes to traveling eco friendly as a family, there is a lot to keep in mind. Believe it or not, there are many tips you can follow to make your trip as eco friendly as possible. This may seem like too much work on your part, but once you get started you will realize that this is far from the truth.

Here are a few family eco travel tips to follow:

1. Can you car pool? If you know another family that is also taking a trip ask them to drive with you. Not only will this do wonders for the planet, but it will save everybody money at the same time. And who isnt interested in that?

2. Reuse items along the way. Instead of taking water bottles for your car trip you should consider using reusable containers. This is a simple yet effective family eco travel tip. Soon enough you will be in the habit of doing this, and may even continue to follow the trend at home.

3. If you are flying book a direct flight. It takes a lot of fuel for a plane to take off and land. Not to mention the fact that flying direct is better from a travelers point of view!

Can you implement these family eco travel tips? Most of them are easy to get along with. All you have to do is take the plunge and learn how you can travel eco friendly. Once you do this everything else will fall into place.
